For this benchmark, develop four small-group learning centers for ELLs or bilingual/dual language learners to review concepts from a previously taught lesson. You may use a content lesson taught by your mentor or the “Creative Lesson Plan” from the topic Resources to complete this assignment. Evaluate the lesson plan for ways in which the theme could be utilized within four learning centers for ELLs or bilingual/dual language learners that you specify.


You must include a copy of the lesson plan you have chosen to modify with your submission.


Provide sufficient differentiation, individualized learning opportunities, and creative activities, within each learning center to reinforce or review concepts from your chosen lesson plan and to promote positive outcomes. Be thoughtful of proficiency level or learning style to guide the grouping of your intended students. Include technological enhancements and cultural responsiveness into your design.


Starting with a Common Core State Standard or content-based standard from your state, identified on the original lesson plan, choose an English Language Proficiency Standard (ELP) from the Arizona Department of Education or from the department of education in your state.

Part 2: Field Experience


Allocate at least 1 hour to complete this field experience.


Conduct one of your learning centers or one given to you from your mentor teacher for students in your field experience setting.


Document the locations and hours you spend in the field on your Clinical Field Experience Verification Form.


Submit the Clinical Field Experience Verification Form with the last assignment by the assignment due date. Directions for submitting can be found on the College of Education site in the Student Success Center.




Part 3: Rationale


Include a 1,000-1,250 word rationale that contains (1) a justification of how you would differentiate the content across four learning centers for the specified students within each center; (2) a brief description of how the learning activity in each center would be conducted to demonstrate alignment with the language and content objectives; (3) the technological resources and culturally responsive materials used to enhance the learning experiences within each center; and (4) a brief explanation regarding what you learned from conducting your learning center and how you would apply it to your future teaching.


Include 3-5 sources from your research to support this assignment.


One scholarly reference could include an interview of an administrator at a school in which you are involved.
